CFI is moving beyond the laws of the caste system by offering education and support to children and women living within the slum and village communities in India.
Organized education can be a tremendous step towards freedom from economic boundaries; CFI is imparting the power of knowledge and experience to the people who need it most: women and children bound by poverty. Through educational programs and vocational training, CFI is giving lower class women and children a chance to relieve their hunger and overcome social suppression as they discover new opportunities for themselves.
Poverty can only be solved as a community. It is impossible to accomplish anything by simply imposing rules or ideologies on people and expecting them to change. Instead, we at CFI believe that reinforcing the positive aspirations of the individuals within the community is the quickest and easiest way to create growth. The mothers, children, and families are free to decide which direction their life takes and CFI helps make these goals and dreams possible. By starting with the people—through listening to what they want and need—we are generating progress in the community as a whole as people find more freedom to change their own future. |
